Caferia
カフェリア
Perched on the second floor by Hatanodai Station on the Tokyu Ikegami Line, kissaten Caferia serves morning roll sandwiches, thick-cut toast, Napolitan, and siphon-brewed coffee in a relaxed Showa-era setting.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Step out of the Tokyu Ikegami Line ticket gates and head up the stairs, and the station platforms and passing trains come into view through wide windows. Occupying the second floor of a building right beside Hatanodai Station, Caferia is a calm kissaten fitted with warm woodwork and vintage furnishings. Natural light fills the dining room, making it a peaceful perch for morning reading or pausing over a coffee while watching the street below.
During morning hours, many diners opt for the approachable breakfast sets. The bread roll sandwich set comes filled simply with egg or ham, paired with a nostalgic side salad of shredded cabbage and macaroni. For a heartier start, the thick-cut buttered toast set provides a dependable alternative. A siphon-brewed blend, prepared cup by cup, delivers a clean, balanced finish that complements the toasted breads well.
At lunchtime, kissaten staples like ketchup-glazed Napolitan, pizza toast, and shrimp pilaf take over the tables. Later in the day, a slice of gently sweet chestnut cake paired with coffee, or a bright blue Hawaiian float, makes for a comforting afternoon break.
The dining floor is entirely non-smoking and welcoming to solo visitors, serving as an easy respite amid the daily routine. Payment is cash only, so having small bills or coins on hand ensures a smooth checkout.
